Bloodshot Bill Interview with Don’t Look Magazine
Bloodshot Bill is a Montreal-based one man band, in your face explosion. Some call it psycho-trash-blues-punk whatever music, but I call it fan-freakin’-tastic. He has his own brand of hair grease, was banned from the US for 5 years, and expects you to wear pajamas to his show. Find out more fun facts below!
DL: What have you been up to since you were last in Memphis with King Khan Tandoori Knights?
BB: I’ve been playing shows pretty steady, in Europe, the States & across Canada. I’ve put out a few records too, but the biggest thing that’s happened is I just became a dad.
DL: Congrats! You guys left some delicious Indian food in my fridge after that show. Was feasting a normal routine on tour? Got a fun food fact?
BB: You can thank King Khan for that, he cooked it all up while I was sleeping! We like to eat, for sure, but Memphis was extra special cause it was our only day-off on that tour, and it was Thanksgiving too so the Hi-Tone invited us over for supper and man, they served it UP! It was an incredible day for eating… Much better than almost getting killed looking for pizza after the show in Tampa! Fun food fact? I don’t think I have any! Don’t have sex with food? I dunno.
DL: Noted. Can we expect you in pajamas on the 10th? Should we wear pajamas?
BB: Most probably, yeah! YES, everyone SHOULD wear pajamas too – PJ PARTY!!
DL: How did you hook up with Paint Fumes for this tour?
BB: Josh (PF drummer) is a super close bud, he drummed on the Tandoori tour (he’s been over at your house too…don’t tell me what he left in the fridge though!). I used to tour with his band The Spinns years ago. Playing or just hanging out with Josh is great so doing a buncha shows together is always fun. And he’s getting married the day after our shows are finished in July!
DL: Tell me about some of your favorite Memphis records.
BB: First I gotta say that Memphis is my favorite town in the universe. So much music I love came out of there, I lose my mind everytime I’m in that town. Favorite records? That’s crazy tough… Jess Hooper & Charlie Feathers come to mind, all that Sun/Moon/Meteor stuff – it all just blows my mind. Now where can we get a time machine?!
DL: I heard you bought some Charlie Feathers stuff at Shangri-la.
BB: Shangri-la said they thought Charlie had drawn/signed the pic but I showed it to his daughter Wanda & she said he didn’t draw it but that it was his signature on it, so, ah, still neat!
