Danny Lewd does Dragonaut

Saturday night @ The Hi-Tone Cafe local heavy volume rock acts Tanks & Galaxicon put on one hell of a two band bill. Both bands were releasing new albums that couldn’t have been different stylistically yet more in tune with the evening. Galaxicon ran through their catalog of heavy rock/ metal, playing some very early material that hadn’t been played in years to a few songs of their new album Old Gods, while a heavy moon-gazing rock set by Tanks focused on the new one song EP (a 27 minute number) Loud Cloud to begin and finished it up with some older tracks. And as an extra special treat, Danny Lewd (The Lewds, These Wolves Are Robots) got up on the second to last song of Galaxicon’s opening set to growl out the lyrics to the absolutely epic Sleep track “Dragonaut”. Galaxicon then closed by covering Motorhead. Of course they did.

Here are Brandi Rinks images shot during Tanks (with a real camera, not a mehPhone).

Here are several stylish photos (and a great review) of both bands from William Knutson.

More images below the fold:

Um, is that Greek? Roman? Does it owe Germany money?

Ben guitars Dragonaut (Pike would be shirtless. Just sayin)

Just. Plain. Heavy.

Drinking in sync!
