Memphis’ reclusive troubadour Harlan T. Bobo has a YouTube channel full of strange, trippy videos that are highly entertaining. As an added bonus, most of these videos feature new music! Today we bring you a handful of videos from his most recent collaboration: The Fuzz. Enjoy.
Its no-vocals Friday at the Hi-Tone Cafe! Tonight will be headlined by psychedelic instrumental kings Maserati. You will also see Austin instru-metal band Eagle Claw, and Memphis’ own kraut/psych band DREAM TEAM. No sing-a-longs allowed. Doors at 9pm, $10. Check out the sounds below.
Wayne Hancock is a master of the honky tonky country blues. Taking after the such legends as Jimmie Rodgers and Hank Williams, Hancock has crafted his own unique sound within the framework of a long-crowded genre.
Tonight, Hancock is performing at the Hi-Tone Cafe. He’s also bringing Ohio blues guitarist Patrick Sweany along with him. Sweany’s sound is more blues than country (which is quite evident in his performance of “Pecan Trees” in the video below), but the two artists are a perfect fit.
Doors at 8pm, $12
The Wakarusa Winter Classic 2013′s Memphis show is TONIGHT. We will have performances by The Chinese Connection Dub Embassy, Agori Tribe, and Lightajo. For more information about the Wakarusa Festival, please feel free to browse their website. And as always, check out the bands below.
