This Friday New Orleans’ own VAUN ride their synth-pop waves into the Hi-Tone. The group is the solo project of Vaughn Daigle, keyboardist for the Generationals. You can check their newest track “Three Sisters” on their Bandcamp page, or just look below this sentence.
Locals Good Luck Dark Star, The Sultana, and Harlan will open the show. Doors at 9pm, $5. And as always, VIDEOS:
Woo boy! What a week it’s gonna be at the Hi-Tone! Here’s the rundown straight from the calendar:
MONDAY: CHAIN & THE GANG w/ COASTING
Tonight! It’s your chance to vibe out to the uber-pop garage jams of D.C.’s Chain & the Gang! And just when you thought that was enough… CATG are bringing along their tourmates Coasting! Oh god, and it’s All You Can Eat Wing Night! What more do you want?????
Chain & The Gang:
TUESDAY: IN ONE WIND w/ THE SULTANA
Brooklyn 5-piece In One Wind have a sound they describe as “Folk/Indie Rock/Experimental,” and if you check out their bandcamp page, you can tell that this is pretty much fact. This Tuesday they are fittingly paired with locals The Sultana. Let your indie freak flag fly.
WEDNESDAY: EVERYTHING IS TERRIBLE!
Everything is Terrible Presents: Doggiewoggiez! Poochiewoochiez! is screening on Wednesday. I’ll let the trailer do the talking (or barking):
THURSDAY: THE HACKENSAW BOYS
The Hackensaw Boys and their folky bluegrass goodess return to Memphis on Thursday! After a few lineup changes and heavy tour schedule, the band certainly still has it. For fans of The Devil Makes Three and Trampled by Turtles.
FRIDAY: THESE WOLVES ARE ROBOTS & FRIENDS
HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY! Local metal-as-fuck favorites These Wolves Are Robots will rip your face off if you show up Friday night. Do it.
SATURDAY: PLANTS & ANIMALS w/ THIS IS THE KIT
We’ve streamed their album. We’ve given you a free MP3. Now the show is finally here! Come to the Hi-Tone on Saturday to hear Plants & Animals, whose sound has been described by one BTJ writer as “hypnotic blast of indie-pop nostalgia highlighted by mulitple layers of expertly executed ear candy.” Yeah!
